Uranus in Taurus, a Bottom Line ~ 26 Apr 2018

On May 15th Uranus enters Taurus for the first time in his current sign cycle. In November, he retrogrades back into Aries for a review of individualistic self awareness until March of 2019. Then he remains in Taurus uninterrupted until July of 2025.

Now given Uranus’ notably disruptive nature conflicts with the economic stability and certainty required by Taurus, some already predict economic chaos, market volatility and financial doom with peasants with pitchforks looting in the streets... much as was sure to happen as Pluto in Capricorn guaranteed the overturning of the plutocracy. Well, there’s time for that yet, but it certainly did not line up with Pluto’s ingress in Capricorn.

Let’s establish some transiting truths. This year as Uranus plows early furrows in the land of Taurus, he trines Saturn in Capricorn. This trine prevails essentially from May until November. With Jupiter in Scorpio and the midterm elections in the United States despite the other political upheaval in play, politicians will claim tax relief (not for self-employed astrologers or filmmakers) and economic stability as a reason for a ballot cast on their behalf.

With Uranus in Taurus interacting with Saturn in Capricorn, through September of 2019, and as Jupiter enters Capricorn in December of 2019, trine Uranus in Taurus, global economic doom does not match the implication of the transits.

Will there be market volatility? Of course. As new methods of trading appear, innovative companies going public, and more groovy cool start-ups and technology, expect enthusiastic surges along the way.

A time of economic instability makes more sense for that to occur in 2020 as Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto align, all the while squaring Eris. The issue of income inequality will be talked about hugely in 2020 elections. However, the issue is more the distribution of wealth. Plutocrats will scratch and claw to preserve their claim to excessive wealth. Will there be those left behind? Yes. Will the economic system collapse? Probably not. What is most important is that individuals (Uranus) choose candidates in favor of their economic well-being (Taurus) in the election cycle of 2020.

Let us recall that when Jupiter disapproved of election results in the land of Mycenae, he enlisted the aid of Eris to reverse to order of the motion of the sky for one day only... simply minimal time for awe and reverence of the providence of the guiding influences of the stars to be seen. The ruler was forced (actually tricked) to surrender his throne in that time, and Jupiter was once again pleased.

The point of this in 2020... think, and vote for those who support economic agendas that work for your life. Don’t fall for the rhetoric and usually tricks. Grasp the big galactic picture.

Now, Uranus is noted to be rule electronics and technology. So what does Uranus in money-appreciating Taurus suggest to Silicon Valley and other strongholds of tech development? Well, the “dot com bubble” occurred with Saturn in Taurus, and the greatest drop with Uranus in Aquarius and Jupiter on the verge of entering Taurus. There are efforts being made to compare the “dot com bubble” with the current cypto-currency craze. Is that valid?

Absolutely. John Oliver on This Week Tonight on HBO (you can find it online) recently did a show segment on the insane ease of creating crypto currency and the fanatic enthusiasm of economic speculators to currencies set up by the likes of an unknown individual or entity. Keep in mind that with Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn those appreciating the “feel” (or smell) of money shall resist the urge to cyberize money. There are those who still love the smell of bound books and the feel of turning pages and who would not read a rich novel on a tablet... or worse, a phone.

It would make sense that when Jupiter enters Capricorn at the end of 2019 and trines Uranus in Taurus that cyber-currency speculation waxes enthusiastic and overly optimistic. In the U.S. this coincides with post election optimism, and Jupiter moves out of orb of Uranus as the inauguration approaches. Just saying, those elected may not match promises when it comes to the vote.

Will cyber-currency catch on with Uranus in Taurus? Makes sense. Likely it will match the patterns of social media platform development. While most will come to embrace, there will be hold outs.

Think of Facebook and Twitter holdouts. Those who resisted the urge to join the faddish culture and leap on the cool, new thing, are less likely to be exploited electronically, and have personal data Plutoized by greedy tech titans. Really are tech titans any different from stock market moguls? Personally I am pleased to be less likely to have my pixels perused by Putin’s pernicious programmers. Even avoiding Facebook and Twitter does not make a person immune. Personally, I had intellectual property mined by a company without my consent because I entered a film festival. As of the last Mercury station, I was reminded as my e-mail passwords were stolen to turn off my wi-fi in Starbucks (and all public wi-fi platforms).

So, what does this mean for social media to have Uranus in Taurus? First, the monetization of social media platforms is up for review. The value of being “connected” by data bits, pixels and through etheric means that tend to be more depressing than uplifting will be reevaluated by consumers. As consumers leave, so do advertisers and those monetizing such platforms and tech billionaires may lose a zero or two in net worth.

Asks Pluto in Capricorn, and very non rhetorically, how much money do you need?

Will Uranus in Taurus stabilize the economics of the realm that brought about the term “monetize?” Absolutely. Uranus, as associated with the collective - and not the individual, seeks to make it work in the aggregate. While he thinks algorithms are cool, he has no attachment to an algorithm designer, a content creator or the end user. He wants the larger system to function organically, realizing that at any moment it works for some, but not all. There is always a mix of tension and ease in every universal pattern. Cool. By the way, Uranus in Taurus is not likely to make a personal robot affordable.

Uranus has no intent to destroy tech platforms and social media. He does seem to have a fascination with that whole fad thing. What happens when you throw a hotdog on the beach among a flock of seagulls? The ornithological distribution pattern can be fascinating. So is the concept that traffic jams emulate water flow patterns. So is the data behind a viral surge.

Given Uranus rules the altruistically assigned archetypes of Aquarius, will he create economic disruption with the intent of creating an equalized global economy? Not exactly, but he will create the potential to understand fads, trends and vacillations for those looking, such that they can pursue a mundane model of life that is a perfect personal fit. It appears in 2020 Uranus defaults to complexities of the Eris square Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto conjunctions. Keep in mind that Eris aspires to find a personal goldilocks zone... not too much... not too little, and that is her personal objective: to be in a perfected zone. How does this please Uranus in Taurus? When one finds the soul-fitting perfect social-economic strata, Uranus perceives that as perfect tailoring, resulting in optimized individuality... to which Uranus is likely to reply, “Awesome.”

Here’s to finding a perfectly awesome fit in the generation of Uranus in Taurus.
